A message from Kirsty,

"As a busy individual myself, I understand the importance of avoiding injury where possible, and rehabilitating effectively should injury occur.

I like to run (usually in circles after my kids!), so I appreciate both the physical and mental benefit of keeping active.  My aim is to support you to do the same.
I work WITH you, using a blend of hands-on techniques and am guided intuitively, to bring balance to both the physical body as well as the mind.  My aim is to promote your overall well-being.

Stretching, guided-meditations, park run and trail running are my sanity-savers, and I hugely value my own down-time, managing my stress levels with regular exercise & regular hands-on-therapy, so I relish being able to support others to do the same by offering stress management treatments alongside the sports therapy."

About Kirsty

BACKGROUND

Kirsty obtained an accredited L4 Diploma in Sports Massage  in 2005.   At the same time, she also gained the ITEC 'Reflexology Practitioner Diploma'.  She is a L4 "Gold" member with the Sports Massage Association (SMA).  After 3 years clinical experience, She went on to complete a BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy Degree.

She has since enjoyed a busy private practice in Hove, caring for a cross sectional range of patients for over 17 years, treating sports injury, chronic & acute pain presentations and offering maintenance treatments for those taking proactive steps to avoid injury and dysfunction.  She offers a calm space for treatments that aim to help stress management also.

KIRSTYS APPROACH

Thanks to her degree education, treatments with Kirsty have a strong emphasis on clinical reasoning and come from sound understanding of functional anatomy.  She has a grounded understanding on how injury can occur and is able to use this knowledge during the evaluation and assessment, and in treatment planning.  However, Kirsty is uniquely able to bring an intuitive and holistic approach to sessions, in order to offer a fully rounded treatment, one that is suitable to all populations (not just the sporting person), allowing her to work on a physical, emotional, and energetic level, as required.

Guiding people to understand their role in their own healing journey is central to Kirsty's approach. H
er focus is on empowering patients to self-manage their condition as much as possible, and to educate on the reasons for injury & dysfunction, enabling patients to find the best route to resolution for on-going well-being, and lasting results.

EXPERIENCE

Since graduation Kirsty has undertaken numerous post-grad certificates, and continuously builds on her knowledge base by undertaking relevant courses, attending industry conferences, and keeping abreast with the recent research in relevant areas.  Click for full list of qualifications here.

Kirsty provided sports therapy to athletes competing at the Aquatics Centre at LONDON 2012 Olympics and has covered seasons with Horsham & Waldran and Brighton Blues rugby teams in the past.  She is now solely clinic based.

Kirsty qualified in Sharon Wheelers ScarWork in 2019 and offers treatments for the management of post-operative or post-accident/injury Scars, helping to reintegrate scar tissue for improved mobility and pliability to affected structures.
