What can I help with ?
Dealing with ongoing pain can have a negative impact on many aspects of life.
It can affect emotions, relationships, how you spend your time, what you choose to do.
It may limit your ability to keep active, perform activities of daily life, and even impact on your ability to perform your occupation. This is draining. It is depressing. It can leave you fatigued and unable to do what brings you joy, and can result in a viscous, downward cycle.
I am here to help break that circle.
By addressing chronic and acute pain presentation, I aim to addresses the specific problem areas & alleviate pain or discomfort by providing a treatment that is tailored to your specific needs and presenting symptoms.
By encouraging the body back to a happy balance, supporting it with hands-on therapy and sensible home care advice, by educating on what pain actually "is", and offering you a protected time and space to "heal", we can work together to restore optimal function, override unhealthy habits and retrain the nervous system.
Conditions I treat regularly....
Pain is sometimes a necessary system to alarm the body that there is an issue somewhere - it is a useful protective mechanism. It is a complex phenomenon, and pain science is an advancing area of interest. However, things can sometimes spiral out of control and we can enter what's referred to as the pain:spasm cycle, or pain signals can fire off, not truly reflecting the level of injury (think how painful a paper cut is in relation to the level of tissue damage), or those pain pathways can remain, even AFTER the physical structure has healed.
Treatments aim to break this cycle, educate on pain management strategies, and regain healthy neural pathways.

How can I do this ?
The area of pain is not always the area of dysfunction, and with this in mind, I aim to resolve the issue via evaluation & assessment, as well as hands-on-therapy. I work with you to help you understand, and I aim to empower you to help yourself.
I may do this through....
Soft Tissue Massage
Joint Mobilisations
Neuromuscular Techniques (MET'S, PNF'S, Trigger Point Therapy)
Stretching
Myofascial Work
Medical Acupuncture
Advise and Home Care / exercise plans
Pain signals can in fact remain active long after the initial causative factor is sorted, and the psychological impact of chronic pain can remain (even when pain-provoking structures have healed), which exaggerate the notion of living with chronic pain. I will guide you in techniques that may help, referring on to a network of professionals if / when appropriate.
